Hi, this is my first post on CoinTalk. I've been collecting for around 2 years now, (I'm a kid), and I bought a 1911 Barber dime for around 7.50 about a year ago. It has great luster(not cleaned) and all letters of liberty are visible. The reverse is in fantastic condition with all the little details showing. Just wondering how much it is worth! Thanks.

P.S. I'll try to post pics but every time I try it says upload failed?

That is an EXCELLENT coin!Nice detail. Looks like is was dipped a long time ago, but otherwise it's gorgeous. I'm not sure how to grade these though but it looks MS to me!

can you get a picture in better light and out of the holder? I looks either MS/AU cleaned or dipped. Doubt it would grade solidly.

Very Nice coin. From my inexperience eye I don't believe for it to be dipped. I did a scan on ebay and found that these tend to run 50-75 in high AU and break into the 100+ range when you get into mint state. I believe this to be a mint state dime, but I'm not sure how high of a grade. Beautiful.

Upon further inspection this might have been dipped. Check out the luster on the MS-64 example listed below. Still a very nice coin.

I love me a barber! That looks nice, but I never learned how to grade the things, even though they are one of my favorite coins...

Thanks all of you for replying. The picture makes the color of the coin a little flat, but in hand, it definitely looks like it was not cleaned. I'll get another pic tomorrow. Hopefully you can get a better look.

That's a gorgeous dime! Beautiful clean silver color too! While it does appear cleaned, it's a great coin nonetheless! If it is in actually NOT cleaned...well...even better :D

Lovely coin, but I don't think it is MS, has some wear on the top of Libertys head. Looks too flat to just be a weak strike. I see it in the AU-50 range.

    barber dime authenticity

I'm sorry to tell you this, but your dime is both circulated and was dipped... therefore its rendered face value only. You will never find a real collector to purchase it! You were dupped kid, next time do your research. If it was uncirculated the previous owner should have proved it. Sorry kid, you bought a dime for 75 times it value! Better luck next time!!!

Gmac; it is 90%to silver so it is atleast worth melt or over melt so he paid less than 4x melt..... but even if its cleaned or over dipped and looks terrible id still pay 4 or 5 bux for it.

    Just my $0.10:

1.) I would be proud to own that dime and being a real collector I'm sure there are others out there willing to have it.

2.) It's a silver dime...a little more than ten cents worth regarding current silver prices. Even if he did pay $7.50 I don't think he was had by much, if anything.

OK, so you would pay $7.50 for an non certified coin... your not a REAL collector! Let do the math fool... $29.30 an ounce×. 45g. First of all. 45g.=.016ozs. $29.30×.016= (help me out here) = lets call it $.47... either way over paid by 15× value... that my friend is dupped! The fact that you say you would be proud to own it tells me one of 2 things... either your a complete moron, or you have absolutely no clue what your talking about! When you acquire 30 years experience and a small fortune from coins, then come talk to me! Try to sell it, see what happens.
