I don't have the right book to look up specific values on national bank notes. I was wondering if anyone knew the value of a 1902 Twenty dollar note issued by Amarillo National Bank. Also the value of a 1929 Ten dollar note on the same bank. The twenty has very faint signatures and are not legible of the president and Cashier. The ten has bold signatures. Anything you could tell me would be appreciated
Sounds like you have the 1902 Twenty dollar note issued by the Amarillo National Bank and the 1929 Ten dollar note from the same bank.
Welcome to Coin Talk! Pictures would help someone with the condition of the notes, etc. These would be important in grading the condition and giving a value estimate.
It will depend on a few more things then you have posted so far. The 1902 could range from $500-2000 depending on the back. The 1929 estimates at $175. Condition could reduce these amounts. Assuming bank 4710. Prices from the Kelly National Bank Notes 6th ed.
A little extra info, the 1902 notes the signatures are actual signatures. The 1929 notes the names are printed.
If the 1902 signatures are no longer present would it kill the note value to have the present day president Richard Ware sign the note or just leave it as is?
Ok thanks, makes sense. I assumed that with any other note but really didn't know about having the grandson of the original Signor, signing it. Thanks again have a good one
The Kelly book lists that there are 10 large (years 1882 or 1902) bills known and 18 small (1929) bills known. Those numbers can be used as an estimate, your bills might not be in the census yet. Your bills are from bank number 4710 correct?
I wouldn't have him sign it for sure! You might want to get a old picture of the bank and have who ever in the ware tree sign the picture to go along with it. As that would add a cool factor IMO But the note I would not bend, fold, write one, ect...
aNB notes Camlov2 Really appreciate you letting me know about the number of each notes in existence Thx
If you want to list the numbers of the bills that you have (or pictures) I can tell you if they are actually in the census or not. One of the best places to see completed auctions and get an estimate for value would be Heritage (HA.com) If you create an account you can see the final prices for past auctions. (maybe you already know that)
