I picked up two interesting bills at a recent flea market. My research online says that the 1000 bill can be worth 2-3k. Is that correct?

Details: Thousand Dollar Bill.jpg Confederate Bill.jpg

    1. The Bank of the United States- 1000 . No 8894, Dec 15 1840. Blank on the back (picture attached)

    2. One Hundred Dollar Confederate Bill (picture attached).

    Thank you in advance!

Neither note appears to be genuine.

If you've ever watched Pawn Stars, Rick will tell you that many of these and similar notes are often counterfeited. Personally, the condition looks too good to be true.

In the 70's my sister worked at a bank that gave these away as a promotional gimmick. If these are worth $2000.00 each now, I won't be going to work on Monday!

    Welcome to Coin Talk!

They look like the souvenir parchment paper fakes to me too. Can you see a CSA watermark if you hold them with a light behind them?

Fake, ALWAYS look at the serial number. If its 8894, is a fascimile.

Sorry, Joel. I hope you didn't pay too much, or if you did, that you can get it back from whoever sold it to you.

The saying "if it too good to be true than it probably is" also applies to coins and paper money. Don't worry we have all bought a fake or two. Welcome to CT.
