On the Peace -- overall VF-20. The right wing on the reverse is too flat (not enough feather detail) for a higher grade, although the obverse would grade higher due to hair detail.

On the Morgan -- A very nice AU-55 and maybe even 58 depending on luster and eye appeal (which is hard to tell from the photo). I see just very slight wear on the hair above the ear and in the cotton balls, and the eagle's breats and first leaf show very slight wear.

All of this is my opinion though, and I have been drastically wrong before.

    Nice Morgan by the way!

    hmm.

the Morgan seems to have consesus about being a 55 or so.
the peace though... from VF-20 to XF-40 o_O

i appreciate all your guesses :)

Most peace dollars are very weakly struck especially on the reverse. Most MS ones I've seen are lacking detail on the tail feathers. One thing that bugs me is that mint mark on the reverse. It doesn't seem to fit in contrast to the rest of the coin. Looks added.

On that Morgan the reverse seems almost spotless. I'd say AU 56.

As long as we are grading Peace & Morgan AU coins what would you guys give these.

Thanks to those who not only provide their opinion on grade, but also give their reasoning. Those of us who are unfamiliar with grading need all the help we can get on how you arive at your conclusion.

The peace dollar looks like an AU coin that has been cleaned. I grade it about $20.

The morgan looks like a dipped XF/AU but otherwise unmessed with. I grade it about $25.

I grade the 22 Peace MS 64 and about $35.

I grade the 90 Morgan MS details, cleaned, and about $20.

    $20 isn't a grade :)
