Modern but uncommon (in the US) coins: do they have any collector value?

I just started getting into coin collecting, although I've had some of them since I was a kid - my dad, who traveled a lot for work, would bring me coins from around the world. I've recently done some traveling of my own, and I have a bunch of coins that, while they're common circulating currency in their own country, aren't to be found at all outside their own borders. Namely a bunch of 500 lira Lebanese coins. I don't know if anyone here in the States would be interested in those, but I'm pretty sure I can't exchange them here for dollars since the Lebanese lira is worth less than ****, so much that Lebanon is on a bi-currency system with the US dollar anyway.

My guess would be minimal value. I collect world coins but I am extremely picky about what I collect and I would guess that everyone is pretty much the same. I mean if your circumstances cross the country in question then most likely you would want a coin from that area. That said, there are many different ways to collect foreign coins. Collecting only animal coins is one and collecting Latin or Hispanic coins is another. How much do those coins sell for on ebay? I am in a similar situation. I have quite a few Euros that I can't do much with. I'll just hang onto in the hopes that I get to spend them some day. :D

    500 lira or 500 livres?

Anyhow, seems like there are none of these on eBay, worth trying to list some, see how it goes. Collectors of Lebanese coins who don't have these yet will be interested, I`m sure.

500 lira. Well, the official designation is the Lebanese pound (LBP), but everyone there calls them lira with the abbreviation LL. But yeah, I don't see anything on eBay either. If someone is actually into Lebanese or Middle East coin collecting, these coins could be interesting, but they're extremely common in Lebanon, basically used like quarters in the US.

I did find a great Lebanese 5 piastre pre-inflation coin from the 50s at a coin show last week, but I think those would naturally have more collector value.

A lot of times if the coins is rare or uncommon in its native country then it will be of value to someone from that country living elsewhere.
