Cents, not pennies. Just curious how much do you get for a roll of them. I too am curious as to what is ment my LEAD SEALED. The only place I know of to buy wheat cents by the bag is on ebay. They always say UNSEARCHED. And I always say how do you know they are all wheat backs if you didn't search them?
I know a dealer that sells 5000 coin bags of wheat cents for $195 each, shipped. That is a 3.9 cents a piece and it is about the best I've found. Plus he won't lie to you about the bags being unsearched. He runs a large operation and I seriously doubt that he searches them, but he guarantees that they've been searched by someone along the way (think about it someone searched it to remove the indian head and memorial cents, if nothing else). The $165 is the best price I have heard of. In the back of Coin World there are a few dealers who also advertise for bags of wheats, but have prices that hover around $200 or higher. Ebay seems to be selling these "unsearched" bags for an average of $230-$240, sometimes less through bidding. After ordering a few of these, be prepared for the majority being 1940's to 50's though. I don't know what Lead Sealed means.
Not trying to do business here but I have been selling mine for $185 shipped. Sold 4 bags last week. It does seem like prices are moving up on wheat bags again. You should be able to pick them up easily at less than $200, especially if you can attend some coin shows and buy them there where there's no shipping needed. tradernick
Lead sealed means that someone has twisted a wire around the opening of the bag to close it and then clamped a lead seal around the wire and used some kind of emossed seal to crimp it closed. This sealing with a lead seal is done on a lot of things to indicate that the thing has not been opened since it was sealed. The lead, being soft, is eaily damaged and shows the tampering if someone tries to open open the bag. Frankly in the case of the wheat cents it is really rather meaningless. If he wants them lead sealed all it takes is some wire and lead.
