More, including an XF-AU 1893 my dad had. I'm guessing the back had tape on it or something? Would explain the stripe.
Nice coins & nice photos Nice coins & nice photos. Too bad there isn't a CC on the reverse of that 1889
And the last one I will post for now... Scoured some of my coins so far with the newly acquired loupe and found this 1934 DDO Quarter. Not the best condition but hopefully you can see it in the motto
To be honest, this has to be one of the most shocking welcome threads i've ever seen on CT lol Nice eagle
Would you believe that my dad had a bunch of gold coins (mostly mexican, with a few quarter eagles, $1 coins and 1 half eagle) stashed away in rolled up kleenex? He put a few of the smaller ones in kleenex, folded them up nice, rubber banded them so they would stay and then stuffed all of them into a small plastic bag, then into a paper bag? It was one of the last things I went through, because it just looked like a bag of garbage. Amazing the condition they are in though. They are all AU-BU.
I almost forgot to point out on this one that there is a gouge on this one above the eagles beak. I was wondering if anyone knew if that is a die break / VAM? I looked on VAMWorld but couldn't find anything. It looks pretty spectacular save for the gouge.
So I got the big Morgan collection and have a discussion about the 1891-CC VAM3 going on in another thread; http://www.cointalk.com/t204605/ Additionally, I got ANOTHER auction. Among all the negative things I am feeling, I am pleased with one of the coins in this lot; http://www.ebay.com/itm/251040274316?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 I estimate it at a VF-35 w/ the details however the "dents" in the coin are a little troublesome. They don't look artificial (from cleaning, etc...) but there are quite a few dents. Any thoughts as to how much it would decrease the value, etc...? Thanks!
