Error quarter?

First post, so bear with me please. Yesterday in change I received a 2003D Alabama state quarter. The coin has no visible copper in the rim. Vending machines won't take it (it jams like it's too light.) And it doesn't "sound" right. Like how silver has that unique "sound" and later quarters have a certain sound. It has neither. Is this an error? (Hope the pictures are clear enough, not exactly a great photographer.)

Maybe it's been plated with another metal like platinum? It looks very bright/reflective in your pictures. Have you weighed it with a scale that is accurate to the hundreth of a gram?

I see copper on the rim of the third pic

EDIT: On second thought, it could be refections that look like copper. Either way, it's plated, and worth 25 cents.

I agree plated, if you want to go further go ahead and weigh it.

    Point of clarification:

The portion of the coin shown in Photos #3 & #4 are the edge, not the rim. (The rim is the raised portion around the obverse and reverse of the coin.) So you would look for the copper core on the edge, not the rim, of clad coins.
