"Hi there, I received these 2 coins from a friend quite some time ago. He told me that it was quite valueble and i just brushed him off at that time. I am quite curious to find out if it really is worth something. Anyone can enlighthen me?:hail: thanks, really appreciate any help
Hi Ray, and to CoinTalk. The second pair of pictures are an easy matter. You have a 1976 Malaysian silver 25 Ringgit designated as KM#20 in the Standard Catalog of World Coins. It's 35g of coin silver (.9250 fine) with an Actual Silver Weight of 1.0409 oz. Bullion value is in the $11-12 range, and if it is truly uncirculated, as appears to be the case from your pictures, it has a book value of $25 in the 2006 33rd Ed. Mintage was 40,000. (That bird is a Rhinoseros Hornbill.) The problem with your other coin is that it claims to be a 1998 Netherlands 1 Guilden, but the SCWC shows completely different designs for both sides of the 1 Guilden which was minted from 1982-2001, and there is nothing in the catalog of any denomination even remotely resembling either side of your coin. It may be a privately issued bullion coin, or the catalog may be in error by not listing it.
Welcome to Coin Talk Ray... The first piece looks like some sort of medallion to commemorate a postal event or dutch stamp. The second one has been nicely ID'ed by Roy. :thumb:
Thanks guys I would really nice to learn more about coin, cos I have quite some coin and i really dont know much about them..:secret: haha... So what do you guys think the nederlands coins will cost?
Welcome, Ray. You have a token issued by a Dutch bank, Rabo, to commemorate its 100-year anniversary. Wilhelmina became queen in 1898, the year the bank opened. The token is made of cupro nickel. Someone on the Dutch ebay site was asking 3 euros for one. Marianne
For somebody who was asking lots of questions not so long ago, you're getting pretty good at answering them now Marianne
Thanks, GD. When I can answer a question from experience, not research or what I've stumbled across by accident, I'll throw a party. If the retirement home lets me.
Ahhhh but that's how we learn dear lady - research and accident. Together they lead to experience. You can't have the third without the first two Don't know that I'll ever admit as to which has taught me more though
