I'm inclined to say faked because the "B" number doesn't look right to me. The misalignment of the third printing is interesting, however. It makes me want to say genuine. This may be a candidate for PMG or PCGS. If it is real, it's a great catch! Waiting patiently to hear from others with more knowledge of this subject.
A popular error note as seen here...http://currency.ha.com/common/searc...hed serial $2&Nty=1&N=56+790+231&chkNotSold=0
You got yourself a WINNER! It's a valuable note. Specifically, it's a Series 1976 $2 Federal Reserve Note - Mismatched Block Letter Prefix Error. I also have one:
I never knew this. In this day of automation, I thought hand setting would not take place. When you say numbers, are you talking about every change in the serial number? That just doesn't seem right to me. You must mean something else.
I think he means hand setting on the letter - because it is fixed throughout the whole block.. and the number jumps automatically... we should give a big thank you to the QC guy who looked over the wrong letter
Just out of curiosity was this a scanned image? It's the only thing that I can think of that would create a rainbow background on the reverse when only black and green inks are used.
I got $136 worth of $2 bills from a local credit union.... and then I found this so I guess I should send it out for grading? you can call me Alan
Great find Alan! An error note for face value is fantastic. Yeah, you should send it out to be graded.
