I agree with dsmith, that it appears to be an altered 1944D with the angle of the first "4" removed to make it appear to be a "1", but leaving an abnormally larger space between that and the "9". This was a common alteration to produce a fake 1914-D. Compare it to the photos and also to a 1944 D lincoln if you have one. Jim
1944-D altered date. If you look closely, you can even see the VDB on the edge of the bust. Coins prior to 1918 did not have these initials.
My first thought, but I don't like to say that with bad photos. Being in a 2 X2 is a bit fishy for this commonly altered coin as well.
Absolutely an alteration. Just compare it to a real 14-D and this will become obvious. I'd get on the horn and call whomever you purchsed it from immediately. For your sake, I hope it was just an oversight from a trustworthy source.
The 4th pic seems clear enough for me to see it. The rest are too out of focus at least in that area.
Sorry but it's not authentic. As so many above have pointed out, it's a 1944-D that has had the first 4 altered.
I agree with a few other it is altered. There was a similar case on pawn stars a woman brought in a 1932 s quarter the s was added to make a $4 coin a $110 coin. The same with this coin.
