Any Error on these two ?

    Found these two while roll searching. Thought at first the 98 was for sure PMD but after looking at it closer, I don't think so. Is the 87 considered a Broadstrike ? Thanks for any information and your thoughts.

    No errors. The first is probably a dryer coin. (Caught in the fins of a commercial dryer). The second is common die deterioration.

    I agree with ikan on the dryer coin. The second coin is a combination of die deterioration and an off-center strike, but the strike is less than 5% off, so no premium.

    Just courious, how do you determine that it's an off-center versus a misaligned die without seeing the reverse?

    Some grease fill maybe .on the 98d and the 87 is a bit off center.

    I was told that wherever you see that raised mound runnning around part of the coin (as it is under the "in god we trust" on that coin) that's it's an off-strike. Was that incorrect?

    That's incorrect. That mound is the result of the deteriorating die.
