I've seen a couple of these around and I believe the local coin shop has one up for sale. What would you feel is a good price for something like this. I know it's subjective, and if someone likes it then it is up to them what to pay. I also understand that something is only worth what someone else will pay for it. I've not done a lot with slabbed coins, and these multi coin slabs have caught my eye a couple times. Thanks.
PCGS Price guide lists all 4 coins at $80 ($20 each) NGC made those, too. They are kind of cool. I've got a NGC one in PF70UC.
I'm pretty sure the one at the coin shop is a PF69 somewhere in the $40 range. Would you say it is more collectable to have all 4 together than it is to have 4 seperate? Might look into this since I've seen some on ebay as well.
I don't know. I kind of like them, but I can't speak for anyone but myself. If you like it at $40, buy it. If not, don't. Your call.
it's that simple. if you like them (I do) then buy them. about 1/2 the pcgs price guide seems to be about the going rate for most coins.
The coins in the set are not worth $20.00 and I wouldn't pay that much for them. They come in a multi-holder from the mint anyway. I agree that the multi-holder from PCGS is nicer than the one from the mint, my state quarter sets are in them, but you shouldn't pay the grading fees of someone trying to score a 70 set. Buy the coins, not the holder.
that brings up a good point. I was originally attracted to the PCGS holder, but since I'm collecting the silver proof sets these cents will be in their own holder in that year's set. Thanks!
There's a PGGS set on Ebay now (PR69DCAM) - $36.95 free shipping: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2009-S-Lincoln-1c-Bicentennial-Legacy-Set-PCGS-PR69DCAM-Multi-Hldr-/180859524150?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item2a1c115436#ht_1119wt_952
Yeah, I had that auction saved, but since the 2009 set is the next silver set to buy on my list, I'm just going to spend the $30 more and get the complete S Silver Proof set instead of spending that kind of money for just the cents because they are in a PCGS container. The younger me would have bought the PCGS set as an impulse buy, but the complete S Silver Proof set make more cents (hahahaha).
