hey everybody, since a lot of you are into photographing your coins, and some are even into making videos, i was wondering where i can get a cheap, but decent macro lens that can attach to my camera (if those even exist) I have a decent quality digital camera (a samsung tl100 if it means anything to anyone) it takes alright photos and videos but only when in a room with a lot of light and even then it has a limit to the quality it can produce. worst of all is that while it is in video mode, it cannot change focus while its actually recording. i have to focus it before i hit the shutter button, and once it begins recording it cannot change focus. any help with this issue is greatly apprecited. to sum it up the goal im trying to accomplish is to be able to change focus while recording. im pretty sure the term for that type of lens is a macro. thanks in advance!
Your point and shoot camera has a macro function on the camera itself. Point and shoot cameras don't have lenses that remove.
it is a point and shoot camera but it does not have a macro function. i know the lens doesnt emove but i thought maybe there was something that i could attach to the end of the existing lens
Hmmm, sounds like you might be shopping for a new camera. But first, try to locate a manual for your camera, if you don't have yours, try the internet for the technical specs and accessories available. You can do a search here for threads on camera recommendations if you end up going that way.
Hi Ryan, Your little TL100 camera does have a macro function. It also has a self-timer which will help you avoid shake when you take pictures. Now that I read your post in more detail, I see you're wanting to take videos. The information I sent you will help you take pictures. Unfortunately, the "not able to focus while recording" problem is specific to many small cameras. Even some semi-pro cameras have this problem, or the focusing during video capture is very slow to refocus. I'd personally suggest you start with photos. If you can take good photos, then videos are not really necessary. I know some people take video to try to show off the color or luster, but again all of that can be captured in still photos.
