Yeah Darkforest, I get the same result as Ken. Like to see a picture as I might be able to help you with an ID.

Looks like a dug coin that someone cleaned up with some sandpaper?

Patriotic obv 68 rev 198 in copper R-4 Both obv and rev dies attributed to Emil Sigel 177 William St New York City NY. Sigel was a prolific die engraver and he created many dies for the production of anonymous patriotic tokens. At the moment there is no way of knowing who he made these dies for.

It's not that hard guys. I just reached over and picked up the book. A few minutes research and there's the answers. It's just a matter of having and using a library.

Thanks for the info! (And it does rather look like someone sandpapered it, mackwork...I really hope not.) :rollling:

Easy for you to say. You've got a way bigger Library than me. Mines in the infant stages.......

There's a cure for that. I admit it does take awhile. Another problem is a lot of collectors would rather spend their money on coins and/or grading fees. I've had years that I spend more on books than on coins. Added ten more last month. OK I admit four of them were duplicates but they are back ups for ones I use regularly that are falling apart.

Anyone know a good book binder? I need to get my #1 copy of Dalton and Hamer rebound.
