What are your thoughts on this Bust Half

    Ridiculous price. A low MS TPG-slabbed, problem-free 1838 CBH coin can be had for $1k. A sweet slabbed 58 can be had for hundreds less.

    The angled photos do nothing to help. They emphasize its questionable color, IMO.

    I wouldn't go near that one.

    That's coin is AT'ed... I would bet my left foot on it.

    It's probably much easier to see in hand... and from straight on with proper light.

    Yeah, that coin is not in a slab for a reason.

    Take a look at this link. It is the number 1 rated PCGS registry set for CBH and it is full of toners. Out of all those toners there are none that resemble that coin, with its light smooth, pastel type of toning. Now I have seen at least a dozen CBH's with that type of toning but none in slabs.
    I'd bet the ranch, the coin was wiped and toned. As for the price, well that is just crazy money.
