Early Presidential / First Spouse medal sets - high $ on ebay....why?

At a local auction tonight, I was able to get the Presidential / First Spouse medal sets for Washington, Jefferson and Madison for $3.50 a piece (still in mint packaging). When I got home, I see these things have SOLD on ebay for around $35 and higher!! Why is this? I bought these with the intention on flipping them, but was wondering if the mintage for these were real low? Kind of baffled at why they're bringing in so much money when you can get the medal and coin separately for so much cheaper. Should I possibly hold onto these sets for a future sale?

$3.50 apiece? You got a whale of a steal if they're the 2007s. I sold a couple of Washingtons and Jeffersons a year or so ago. The Washingtons I got close to a hundred each and the Jeffersons went for a little under 90 each. Make sure you keep them in the original packaging, it determines their entire value.
