I'm going to my coin shop tomorrow, and I want to know if any of the circulated coins are worth a premium. I have: Two Georgia State Quarters from 1999 (Philadelphia) same condition as this Several 1966, 1969, and 1971 lincoln cents from Philadelphia same condition as this (coin labeled as Fine) Entire set of Lincoln cents 1964 to 2006 P&D Mint marks circulated conditions, most are Fine to Extremely Fine, newer ones about uncirc. Remember that none of these coins are graded by any professional grading service. The 1966, 1969, and 1971 cents are raw, along with the 1964 to 2006 set. One of my Georgia quarters is in a cardboard 2x2. What is the value of a) each Georgia quarter, b) each 1966, 1969, and 1971 penny, and C) the entire set of 1964 to 2006 cents?
I cant see a mark up on any of those (all very common), except 1960 and 1970-s small dates and I would think they would have to be in decent condition for any type of premium. Why are you trying to sell them?
As stated, these seem to be fairly common coins. I would not purchase them but if this is what you want then, ok. Why not consider purchasing one very nice coin that "speaks" to you?
First of all, I have these coins, and am looking to sell them - in order to buy other coins. I realize that these are not worth much, but the entire set of P&D would have to be worth at least a small premium. Also, I have an almost complete set of 1959 to present Lincoln cents, and this set is made of my extras from roll searching.
I have to warn you to be prepared to have the dealer let you know he is not interested in those coins. For an example wholesale on a circ #2 wheat book complete (minus the 55ddo of course) is less then $5. We see hundreds of them a year. If there is a chance you can find it in change pretty easily ... we aren't usually in a hurry to buy them for more then face.
Friendly FYI... You may want to go on ebay and check out the 1959-Present Lincoln sets that are for sale. IMO they are very common and don't sell for much.
If everything in your list looks like the photos you linked, you're in a for a big disappointment from the dealer. All worth face, all very common, all have no premium.
Lol. We all were man. Thank goodness there was no internet to document my noobishness when I started. Been there, done that, own a bunch of crappy coins I overpaid for to prove it. We all have, which is why a lot of us are here trying to help others.
So did you end up selling the coins, and if so, what was the dealer's offer? We all start out knowing next to nothing.... I still remember thinking that the first Wheat Cent I found was something rare and special- that's why I saved it! If anything, it got me curious and here I am 25 years later, still collecting coins.
As the others have stated, the dealer probably wouldn't be interested in anything you have. I can't even unload rolls of circulated pre-1930 wheats with any dealer in my neighbourhood because they have bucket fulls. I have to toss them on kijiji and then I have to argue with buyers who want them for face instead of the 3x face I was asking.
Yeah...but not many have the guts to come back and ADMIT it later. (Just watch...very few who have posted recently will come back here and admit they just gave you advice on a 2 yr old question :too-funny: )
