I've heard a couple of threads about best deals you have ever had, and the best buy you ever made, but how about the worst sell? What coin(s) or when was there a time that you sold something and regret it? For me one major thing stands out. I regret to the bone that I sold all of my mercury dimes. I ended up selling 500 for 1k and another 250 for 550. Just a complete waste. These Mercury Dimes were VF-XF and I basically sold them below melt. This was a few months ago when I really had no idea what I was doing with coins.
ok just kidding.. I have just started collecting in the past year or so but i would say my 1858 canada Large cent EF 40
Unless you blew it on gambling, booze, cigarettes and strippers, I'd say you did well considering inflation of today's rates.
I got all of them for face value from the bank, but playing pool was just taking up too much of my time. I didn't need the money for gambling, and I really should have kept them. Chris
I regret selling a 1904 Indian cent in a red MS grade. I originally paid $5 for it on a bid-board in Woodland Hills California when I was a kid. With my grading skills & memory today, I suspect is was a MS 65 or 66 or.... I sold it when I needed money during my college years. I bought a slabbed 1904 Indian in an attempt to replace it. The replacement coin didn't work for me. I still miss that original $5 bid-board purchase.
I most regret selling a Jerry Rice RC that I bought at a flea market for a nickel... ...ended up using that money to buy newer packs of basketball cards. Yeesh. Edit: I just remembered the coin I MOST regret selling. It was a 1947 Canadian dime that just g.l.o.w.e.d. I listed it on eBay with horrid photos that captured none of the mint luster...think someone got it for .99.
My entire collection in 1969 for 2K, in order to finance my first marriage. I immediately regretted selling the coins AND getting married.
I regret selling my 1968 Mustang, but it took several years for regret to sink in. I also regret selling a 1921-D dime in F-12. I sold it about 12 years ago when the market was low.
EVERYTHING!!! when i first got into coins i lost interest after about half a year. i sold a half complete BU franklin set, 200 dollars in various silver coins, a washington quarter set in dansco album, all my error coins and books, and various other coins. im back into it now and i dont regret anything one thing in my life more!
There are a few baseball cards I regret selling, and a whole bunch I regret not selling. But none when it comes to coins, but thats because I haven't sold any yet.
I regret selling or trading everything. How else do you explain my US collection when I haven't looked at them in over a decade? Yeah, good thing my "deal" is coins, or you might see me on that show "hoarders".
If you ever feel overwhelmed by your collection I would love to relieve you the stress of having so many coins, I'd even do it for no charge
