I am not sure I quite understand ANACS evaluation. They grade strike? You can deduct for it, but grade it? Luster for an XF coin (or maybe that is what they are saying with the 40)? Anyhow, the 24-D is well known for crappy strikes. This is not one of them. Very clean with no distracting marks. My initial appraisal of this was a solid 45, but after looking at the PCGS photograde samples, it might have a shot at a 50. ANACS called it a 45.
Old ANACS slab, that coin has just a trace of wear and every grader knows the story of the 20's branch mints....it would reslab higher today IMO.
I know I went high with 55 , but I swear that's a 50 coin at least . Well at least I got the other one . lol
Dick how many weeks before you throw this puppy out ? missed by 4 . My grade should go up that week .
Actually you only missed it by 3. And, FWIW, it is already not being counted. With over 20 entries, your worst 2 scores are discarded. Since your highest other miss was only 1 point, it has already been discarded (i.e. not counted). However, to specifically answer what you were asking, if I keep doing 4 per week and don't have any more pauses for a while, it will take 12 1/2 weeks for it to clear you slate.
This has to be about a 25 year old grade, maybe more, from that certificate. Note the split grade; they were still grading obverse and reverse separately at the time. Standards have changed. Of course, I don't know how much they've changed; I got this one right.
