Its a modern fantasy coin, sorry to say. A mule of Constantine and a prutah?

As many of these as we see I assume they were given out in ads for some books on Christianity (Jewish coin and 1st Christian Emperor all on one coin) but I have never seen the packaging that came with them.

I said modern, not new, but either way believe what you want.

you may be right!!! im not trying to get rich or anything just wanted to know what the heck it was, i never seen a coin like it. its just old looking and pretty cool. i also found a bunch of 1840's and 50's dollar gold coins in like AU condition, not bad for a box sitting in my garage for a few years, since my father gave them to me. i also found alot of silver coinage and old paper notes that i still have to look up.
    thanks

Yeah, the obverse is easy, made to look like a 4th century Roman, (maybe Constantine). The reverse is from an ancient jewish coin from when the Romans ruled there around the first century AD. I cannot offhand remember the procurator that struck that piece, but its made to look similar.

If it helps, a whole bunch of coins like this, for various reasons, were made in the 60's as giveaways. They were part of the reason the hobby protection act was passed requiring the word COPY on any imitation numismatic item.

    From forvm fake coin reports.

    http://www.forumancientcoins.com/fakes/index.php

    "Roman-Judaean fantasy mule
Modern fake fantasy mule of an AE3 of Constantine I (obv) and Judean AE Prutah (rev), 18mm, 1.63g
    obv: Constantine I, r.
    rev: crossed shields and spears
Produced for promotional distribution by Reader's Digest magazine; of US manufacture; no such mule exists from antiquity and would, indeed, be impossible"

Aside from being an "impossible" mule combination, the style and fabric is wrong, as well as a die/flan match.

As medoraman said m, maybe 1960s? I personally can't say. Same with the metal since i;ve never handle one, sorry. Looks like some type of bronze. I could see these showing up in the 25 cent pick bin ;/ Authentic Roman coins can be as low as a dollar, with decent ones of constantine going for $10-20

edit: this one cost me $20

Just thought I would say that that is a very nice coin for a $20 Randy. :)

I doubt most collectors would be so lucky to find that purchase.
