    Hi All,

Anyone help me identify this coin please?
Country & year, my foreign language reading skills do not extend to reading the script on this coin.

This looks like an Ethiopian coin with the lion and the crowned figure. The script looks like it's in the Amharic language, which is the majority language of Ethiopia.

It is a coin from Ethiopia.

Or perhaps a counterfeit of a coin from Ethiopia. The uneven wear on the reverse screams "fake" to me.

If authentic, it appears to be a Birr from Menelik II, EE1895 ≈ 1903-28 AD, KM #19. If you tell us the size and weight, I can make a better guess. A Birr would be about 28 g and 40 mm.

    Hi,
Thanks for the info so far, yes it is 40mm Dia & weight is just over 28grms.
The uneven wear is a result of it being soldered into the bottom of a copper dish as a decorative piece.
    Can anyone read the script?
