I decided to drive over to the show today as a shop owner friend said it was "better than Baltimore". I can tell you that is not true, but it was busy, and continues tomorrow with Parsippany and Albany also making claims to numismatic greatness. Remarkably, the show is held at a Roman Catholic Church hall! Extreme unction and confessions were offered for attendees so in need. Just kidding but have you thought of the possibilities of the money changers working assiduously while masses are being held tomorrow?
I didn't get there until around 1pm so probably much of the good stuff had been snapped up. Buyers like Steinmetz and David Carr were there at show set-up Friday night, so they apparently had the first shot on the fresh material. Nothing was cheap, there was the usual range of eagle gold and silver at reasonable premiums; type material, but no real bargains. Someone was snapping up AU/BU Peace dollars for $28 each in large quantities, that was a good deal. There was a lot of material that dealers there had bought from Baltimore last week. I bought: A Grant half dollar blazer in MS64 from Robt Charles, as well as a first year Standing quarter MS64FH and some toned BU Morgans, etc.. Two Bust dimes from Rahway Coins, an 1833 XF for $225 and an AU58/MS example for $600.
