What do you do to track the price trends for the coins that you collect. With the market changing so much in such a short period of time, sometimes it is hard to keep up with what is a good price for a coin, and whether that coin may be overpriced. I assume that everyone uses the graysheets, but absent that, does anyone have their own system of tracking prices that they want to share?

The best source for retail price tracking is auction prices realized. Don't overlook the main stream services. Ebay is only one source, so don't rely on that alone. The major ads in the numismatic trades can also be used.

Basically I track values in my head - but then I'm not like most folks. I search for coins on a daily basis - several hours usually. And I search everywhere. So it's not hard to keep up that way. But what Nd said is enough to keep you in the ballpark - and often that's close enough.

As for the Greysheets - personally I don't use them. Haven't bought one in years. But that's because I keep track of values - to know approx Greysheet values all I have to do is subtract 10 - 20%.
