Airtites in Dansco?

The problem is...I am dealing with foreign coins that don't conform to the sizes found in albums. Actually, I noticed your album was of German coins gbroke...mine is German as well. The coin sizes are 17, 17.5, 18, 20, 21, 23, 25 and 29mm. This is why my original idea was to use airtites with foam rings. They make rings in 1mm increments that will fit all these sizes and you only use 3 sizes of plastic (A, I and H). I'm not a huge fan of the 2x2 in pages...but I'm starting to wonder if that's the best option. I figure I can label them nicely with printed labels.

Oh nice! I did buy many mm pages for my German coins. Then I decided i would start to use a label maker.

I made it about 3 and said, no way I can do this 100's of times. Thats when I decided to put the mint sets in the 2x2's.

This one had no color when it went in the album 3 years ago. But I am not complaining about this one. It's toning nicely.

My guess is I will also hand label. Making printed labels sounds really good...but the bottom line is I will likely be unwilling to do the work. Did you find 2x2 pages that fit the size of a Dansco...or did you simply cut them out of bigger pages. I have 2x2 pages that are supposed to be very inert...they have no PVC and thus are very rigid. But, they are larger binder size pages. It seems like it would be pretty easy to cut them to Dansco size.

Also, I have been looking at blank Dansco albums and it appears they make them in a variety of sizes (how think they are)...it looks like they make them up 1.25in. How thick is the binding on the Franklin album? I don't have one to measure. I'm trying to figure out how thick of an album I need.

Thx GDJMSP for the web site.I have been looking for this info for at least a few months. My plan is to set up an album for my pandas, brittanias, and libertads. All of the sources I tried didnt have any info on albums that would accept airtites. My hope is to keep these coins as pristine as possible by using capsules and albums.Thx again.

You missed the part where he said he cut off the top row and right hand column.

Doesn't Dansco make album pages geared towards millimeter sizes? (Meaning, instead of buying a "half dollar" page you would buy 31 mm page, or in your case the sizes you need). They sell them at www.wizardcoinsupply.com at least.

They do...but I have never seen a 17mm page which is a size that I need.

That figures hey Camaro? They go from 16mm-42mm only skipping 17mm. :p

Based on the research I have done...there is simply no way to make the airtites work in these albums. The airtite albums I have tried prior do not work to my liking, so I think I'm going to go with gbroke's suggestion and put 2x2 pages in a Dansco album. It appears that they will flip better than in a binder and thus will probably work better for my needs.

The pages I have on hand are Supersafe's polyester 20 2x2 pages. They are pretty rigid but I was told before that they are safer than the vinyl pages. These are what I have: http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/supersafe-archival-pages-20-pocket-2x2.html
