I believe that this is a clipped planchet. I have never held one before. Am I correct? Seems like it’s a 10% clip? Picked it from a 90% bin. Happy new year everybody 3A5D2329-8F07-48B1-BDAF-00A2BF5FB62F.jpeg A203EEDF-54D1-4A23-A81C-50ED9EFAB921.jpeg 24D81B15-E373-46B1-B3A6-658AEE51189F.jpeg

Looks like a double clip to me. Nice find.

What a way to end the year. A nice cherry pick

It would have been a cool enough find on a clad quarter.

On a silver quarter, even better! Particularly if you snagged that for spot price.

Thanks. The coin shop I was at is high for my area. Not spot price. It was 25x face. I always try to buy something. Shops like people that buy at least one thing.

Definitely a double clip but it’s called an incomplete planchet error.

I'd take it back and demand the missing piece of silver. LOL
Seriously, nice find and good condition.

It is in such good condition I think somebody saved it back in 1964. Would this be worth getting graded? I don’t see a ton of value but it is more than a regular 64

It's interesting how the letters got mushed near the clips on the reverse. Cool find.

The coin itself will probably grade enough to get your money back but grading isn’t really necessary. I have a Kennedy Half with 3 clips and its still raw.

I’ll keep it raw. Definitely a conversation piece

Good choice. You can always slab it later. Just put it in a flip or something to protect it. You don’t want fingerprints getting on it.

Beautiful country. It's not too far a few hours I have family in both Chico and Redding.
