Good evening, Today i was given the rare oppertunity to hold on to this bread token for a month or so as it´s being lend to me for the coin show being held in Iceland in Aprli. This is by far one of the rarer bread tokens and only three are known in existance. It´s a bread token from the 1890-1905 and was used in a bakery in Reykjavik and was good for a half of loaf of bread. I actually smelled it when I got it. Should have seen the face of the owner right before he cracked up lauging. Siggi
That is funny Siggma. I was visiting Mt. Pelier (Home of James Madison) and there was a small ink stain on the original flooring in his office. It is rumored that the ink stain was caused during the drafting of the U.S. Constitution. I actually got down and smelled the floor and three old ladies looked at me like I was crazy.

I love your token Siggi...simple but still appealing. I always like your posts, not only for the pieces you show, but for the history as well. You know me, I research almost everything I buy for my collection. I think the history behind the coin or token is very important not to mention interesting. Thanks for showing it.
