Hi guys, so I wanted to get opinions on which lettering style you prefer for the coin pics I also just wanted to show off my work since I have been fooling around with this photoscape program all morning .
To be honest I don't like either of them. If I had to choose I would go with the top. Courier looks pretty good. 1928 $1 Morgan XF-45
I wouldn't bother about any type of drop shadows within the font. Keep it simple, light font on dark background and dark font on white background. Honestly, if I cared to take pictures of my coins as if they're as important as my children are, I wouldn't bother putting the name, year, mint mark, etc on the actual picture, I'd just put the description as the name of the photo and if posted somewhere, have it separate from the picture. That way if you ever wanted to change the font, you don't find yourself having to edit or retake the pictures just to change the description.
Consider this....do you want peoples eyes to go to the font or to the coin? The blue font distracts from the coin. Keep it simple, don't overdo it trying to be fancy.
If I have to choose, it's the top one. As noted, the bottom font is too "busy" and detracts from the coin. I'd use a bold courier or times new roman - light color against a dark background.
First one but in a bolder font. The second font looks a bit busy and juvenile, and as as others have said, it takes your interest away from the coin. I do like a black background and the bit of reflection, if kept dark, gives a nice spot to put the information. Everyone has different tastes, and it comes down to that.
If you can see the date and mintmark, I see no point in labeling the picture. When I do, I simply put the date and mintmark. (See below)
If you see no point, then why do you see the point? Interesting point. If you remove coins from flips before imaging, you will get better results.
Definitely the top one. Even though I do like the fonts to be fancy I think the coloring over did it. Also I don't mind the year and mintmark.
I can only say that the blue hurts my eyes. I mean I have to work at it, to read it. Distracting. Sorry. I love blue, but I guess not in print!
Well due to the overwhelming response of forget the blue go with the white, I have since done so. I am not 100% on the font yet but this one seems decent to me. What say you fellas? Courier font: Maza font:
