Hello everyone my name is marcos and i actually started looking at coins after my brothe-in-law told me about his finds.Long story short i found two 1969 s pennies n i just cant believe my luck; so im wounding if anyone can help me
I wanted to know if it was worth something i have to take a picture to post it up so i can show you but first i need a magnifying glass so because my camera wont take a clear picture
As Merc and Billyray pointed out, there is only one significant variety for this year, and it's the Doubled Die strike. If you were to have one, even in circulated condition you're talking $5k-$10k easy.
Were gonna need some really close up shots to tell you whether these are double die or not. Different angles too.
The significant variety of doubled die is a "rotated hub". This mean that at some point in the engraving process, the master hub rotated and the engraver carved additional letters in the die. I didn't see evidence of that on your coin. Keep looking, it might be the very next one you find.
Thank you all for the help i still have to put better pictures but does the color mean anything 1 looks regular the other 1 looks alittle red.
The one that looks a little red has environmental damage whereas the other is a normal cent. The red coloration may be due to contact with iron or with soil, but other chemicals can cause it. Jim
Thanks jim for the upset.... jk i posted something bout a 1939 s walking liberty pls let me know what u think i'll put some pictures up on monday n better ones of these. Again thanks you Marcos
??? I've never heard of a rotated hub involving the engraving of additional letters by an engraver ???
