obviously it is double (I say triple) stamped at the "liberty" - I cannot clearly identify any other doubling, and the reverse is as clean as a whistle. I also cannot locate any other reference to another 1978-D double stamp Lincoln cent online....... can anyone help me to 1) identify it, IS it s double-die ? 2) tell me, should I gdo something with it like get it certified or something ? Thanks to all (new at this for the most part)

The pictures are kind of blurry. If you used a Camera, make sure to use the 'Macro' Setting. It looks like a little Tulip. If not, try to use a scanner, and set the resolution to is maximum setting!

From what I can tell from those pictures there appears to be plenty of PMD, to say the least!

Looks like it was struck through to me... possibly a late stage die cap. I assume the reverse is normal?

dont use the flash on your camera, instead shine lots of consistent light on the coin from multiple angles if possible.

I honestly just can not tell from the pics.

And use the macro setting for best pics. It's marked by a little flower.
    Shoot both sides!

Can you focus better and take the pics straight on? The angle makes it hard to tell.
I want to say that it was struck through a capped die, but without better pics, I can't.
Do you know a reputable coin dealer in your area? You might get a better opinion with the coin in hand.

Edit: Looking back at your latest pics I can see that your focus is actually good.

The coin itself is just in really not great condition............ if it ever stops raining here I will see about getting by one of the more receptive coin dealers in the area. (Don't believe anyone who says the weather is great in Cali. It would be great if I were a duck maybe)....:)

    Thanks.

No argument here. I was thinking of something else when I posted and retracted it after I read what I wrote.
