I usually look at Abons feedback daily hoping to
see new negative feedback for them.
I was reading posts and posting here earlier today
and saw where someone had been blocked from bidding
on Abons auctions even though he never did business w/them.

Having a fair amount of anti Aboncom posts under my eBay
screen name on eBays boards I let my curiousity get the
best of me and I bid on one of their auctions and guess what ?
    I'm BLOCKED !

Thank you Abon, I have a Good Conduct Medal award and several
Campaign ribbons from my service in the military and I treasure them.
Being blocked by you ranks right up there w/them, I'm honored.

    Screen shot.

    Greetings,

I just don't get it-why block you? It seems to me they could always say hey you knew we sold junk. Why did you buy it again from us???

A blocked bidder can't leave negative feedback.;)

Yeah I must say Im slightly tempted to buy some of the cheaper coins just to leave them negative feedback, the fact is my ebay account isnt that important to me, it just allows me to buy the random things I cant find here in town.

I too , might have been blocked. A few days ago I asked how well they sleep at night ,after ripping off unsuspecting newbs. They never sent a return message.

I really dont think they will ever be kicked off ebay.Abon, is a major power seller, and makes to much of a profit for Ebay. Plus, they dont claim to be a top tier grading service. So, there really is'nt much we can do, but try to educate the newbs or beginners, to not buy thier products.

Why would you be tempted to give these people even one dime of your money ? We give them plenty of negative feedback here ,and other coin sites do the same, and you won't to buy cheaper coins to give nagative feedback, do it here man it's free and you don't to put money in there pockets.

I was the one who was blocked. Shoot, only been on ebay for almost 10 years, 100% positive feedback and blocked by them. They know who the players are. I took it as a compliment. : )

As long as this is an SGS thread, I want to post this auction number- 8435950461 Can someone explain to me why this is so high? It can't because it has an s mintmark because s in that time didn't mean silver because they were all silver right? So, why is this auction up to over 80 dollars?

Can you say "Auction Fever", a very contagious disease among the ignorant?

Here is a link to the auction. :(

BTW, an "S" mintmark does not mean silver, it means the coin was struck in San Francisco. Perhaps you are confused because for several years the San Francisco mint has struck proof coins, some with a silver content.

Ebay will never get rid of these scams when they make ebay tons of money. Ebay doesnt care about us, the buyers and collectors, as far as ebay is concerned as long as product sells for people they make money off the fees, why do you think some people get their accounts suspended for talking out agaisnt these people? It is has allways been my belif that it is our duty to tell people the truth about this junk especially the new people. So I have a suggestion for this board, a blacklist, a quick refrence to stores on ebay and the internet who people have been screwed by so no one else from here gets taken advantage of. Just my two cents.

In theory, a blacklist makes sense; but I'd be concerned about:

    1) The lawsuit-happy. Unfortunately, they seem to exist.
    2) A single deal gone bad (for whatever reason) with respect to an otherwise reputable seller, resulting in a vindictive and unwarranted placement on the blacklist.

Could there be some way to get around those potential issues?

As they say "the proof is in the pudding".
My SGS MS 70 Lincoln Cent gets more valuable every day !
It was suggested I check to see if the fingerprint is really Abes.

    Did you say vindictive ?
My punishment for posting on the eBay boards.

Love to hear from others that have been blocked form Aboncom.
There must be quite a few of us by now.

All true, LL, but I was thinking specifically about a blacklist on this board.

Aren't there limits on the number of blocked IDs on eBay?

Just how blind are these buyers? It is evident that the quarter is no way close to MS70 from the photos. But yet the feedback just amazes me (even with all the neg. publicity). In the last month, 3523 Pos and only 14 neg. feedbacks! What are these people seeing, or should I say, NOT seeing!

There are lists on other boards, but Peter's (forum owner) been sued before for negative comments made about a grading service on an online forum (actually not strictly a forum, it was RCC) so I don't imagine he's any too anxious to have a list like that here, and I don't blame him!

As for the blocked bidder list, the limit is 1500 blocked users. I think I have 15-20 on mine, but I'd imagine that Aboncom has many more than that.

I dont think they can sue you for posting something on a community forum, technically this is considered a private community board isnt it? But I would definetly put a disclamer that those on the black list are there due to people's personal opinions and are not nessesarly the view of the whole forum or the admins. But its all up to Peter really.

That's the whole point - not only can they, they HAVE !

rcc is a community forum too and that's where the entire ACG suit originated from. It cost lots of nice folks who were trying to help others not be ripped off thousands of dollars - each.

Make the blacklist private for those who have a certain number of posts so it would be private. Technically couldnt this thread itself pose problems for all of us if SGS decides we've gone too far?
