Hello folks, hope everyone is doing ok today. Everytime I look at this coin I see something different. I'm guess it's a multi-error thing. I'd apprecieat any input. Thanks
First, welcome to the neighborhood! Is the mark running across the eagle raised or recessed? Can you give us close-ups? Chris
I was wondering that too. It almost looks raised based on the reflections in the photos. I also noticed what may be a die crack going through UNITED, if that is also raised? And..... welcome to CT Simpleman!
Thanks Ya'll, yes, the it's raised and does a lot of twists and turns on both edges of the coin. I've checked coins for years for errors and have not really ran across one like this. I appreciate the input. I'm just wondering if it's something I might need to research for further action. Thanks again. I'm really glad I found this place.
Oh, what looks like a die crack through UNITED is actually the lamination peeled off I think. I'm not really sure. The whole rev. has a clear cover over it....what is that??
It is really hard to tell from the photos and lighting if that is a foreign substance over the reverse, and that's what is cracking. can we see the obverse and possibly the edge? Is the obverse color the same?
Except for the die crack, the rest going on looks like PMD(Post Mint Damage), and it no error. Die cracks are common occurances.
It does sound like the coin may have had the reverse covered in glue at one time. Just a guess based on the above. If so, maybe it's the glue that is cracking.
