Does this price seem low to anyone else? He wasn't able to sell it for his $250 OBO asking price. It's a low mintage DDO. What am I missing? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...K:MEWAX:IT&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc#ht_499wt_1416
I think it's a legit DDO, not machine doubling. Maybe people are just not interested until it hits the Cherrypicker guides?
Item is no longer up for auction. Poorest example of any doubling I've ever seen. Really reaching.......
It seems pretty consistent to the DDO mentioned on the Anniversary coins, so I think it's legit. I'm not trying to sell the guy's coin though; I just want to know why it didn't sell. Are people only wanting PCGS 70's? Are they looking for a certification from PCGS or NGC? Should he have posted better pics? I just don't want to make the same mistake that he did when I have a coin like this. I was watching this auction and almost bid, but I think I ended up avoiding it b/c noone else was interested. I was afraid that I'd be overpaying.
If anything, I think it was machine doubling. Nothing to get worked up over and certainly no reason to plunk down a premium for it....MHO
Nah. I have several anniversary coins. His is the real DDO (based on the fat date & misc minor other details)... My guess is that it's just too soon to sell a DDO for this set. 5 yrs from now he could probably turn a profit, but it's just too soon right now.
Even if it was a DDO, a mintage of 100k wouldn't 1/4 of all coins be from that same die? So it wouldn't be hard to get, just look at every 4th coin.
WTF. The paint on my Civic is most certainly different than the next one on the assembly line on the microscopic level. This is no 1955DD. Am I a moron or are we really reaching here?
BTW I see a 69 set that sold for $1k and a 70 set that sold for over $1,500. Are these moving up again slowly?
Thanks ,green! Sorry folks I just can't see it. For the above mentioned money I can get a $2.50 AND a $5 Indian. Honestly, what would you rather have? PS: Cat not for sale/trade! (He bites!)
To each his own. There are some ASE collectors who are very interested in this one, but there are also some other people who are not. I have yet to find someone who has one who wish they did not get it. I have one in my 25th anniversary set that came right along for the initial $299 US Mint price. Would I buy one at a large premium right now? No. Am I willing to enjoy my 25th anniversary set and wait to see what happens with this one? You bet. . I understand the difference between MD and DD, but the fact that this was written up as a DD in Numismatic News adds to the intrigue. TC
Too high a price, in my opinion. There's no eye appeal for me. If I found one while roll searching, I'd keep it but I wouldn't pay a premium for it.
