I wanted to share this coin that I just got today. It's a 20 reis coin from 1865 from the Azores. It's about the size of a half dollar and is copper. One of the things I like in coins is items from obscure places, so this definitely qualifies.

Nice. These coins are hard to find in that good of condition without paying a premium. Usually the reverse is well worn. Knowing that you, like me, have a $ limit to what you will spend on line I would hazard a guess that you acquired this coin at a reasonable price.

It was about $7.50. It was one of those situations where I was just browsing the auctions about to end right before bedtime and that one was there so I bid at the last seconds and got it.

I like yours too, Siberian Man. I really like older Portuguese coins. I've been picking them up when I see them and will probably focus more on them in the future. I like the 50 centavos and escudos from the late 1920s through the 1960s a lot. And I also collect Brazilian coins, which are in some ways similar to Portuguese, having been a Portuguese colony.
