I do not suppose that you got it from e-bay, because I can not find any there .. I really like the coin with the star
Just a brief side note - that is due to the monetary agreement which was modified in 2010. The new version says that, quote, "the Vatican City State shall put in circulation at face value at least 51 % of the euro coins issued each year." The regulation does not say which denominations should be issued at face, so the Vatican picked the 50 cent piece. So far (well, the 2012 figures included) they have issued 6 million of those for general circulation ... Christian
No, it is an aluminum foil token, same thing for the white one in the upper left corner for the 1967 set.
Yea i never got 10 Euro Spanish piece but i did buy the Belgium ones' I actually have 2 of those coins the seller was selling them as a lot and put it as X2 but had one picture no one noticed and it sold for like 20 bucks couple years ago It was hassle to find an airtite that would fit those though. Added: anyone notice a run up in prices of world coins for past week or so in the 'bay? Activity seems to be returning back to the Aug 11' levels..
Thank you. I love the originality of that piece. There are a few toners in my collection. Check it out if you have some time to waste. Here's a new raw eBay pick-up. Should grade ~ AU50-53 at PCGS.
Yep, mintage of 3 million coins, 1913A Prussian (German States) 3 Mark coin, celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the defeat of Napoleon. It is only a one year type (only 1913), but you can see more information here: http://www.ngccoin.com/poplookup/Wo...egory=33800&worldcoinid=98455&FromSearch=true
Certainly not a regular circulation coin; that was a commemorative piece. I would handle the NGC info with some care, by the way. The German catalogs that I have say that the mintage of the 3M piece was 2 million. And no, the coin did not commemorate Napoleon's defeat but the fact that Prussia entered the war against France. See this earlier post ... Christian
Christian thanks for the detailed information. The mintage is not an NGC problem, the mintage number comes from Krause. NGC merely hosts an online version of their guide. Is there a more complete/correct world coin guide than the Standard Catalog that we use here in the USA? However, the attribution of the coin as "Napoleon Defeat" is an NGC problem...but apparently rampant, as every one of these 2M and 3M I have seen graded have that label on them. Thanks again, -Brandon
Latest addition. Though collect only russian coins, added to the lot Hong Kong cent and austrian coin
For German coins I use the Jaeger and Schön catalogs; there is also a Schön world catalog (20th/21st c.). However, these are all in German ... In my opinion the Schön world catalog is not necessarily better than the Krause; they both have their pros and cons. Christian
