I earned $63 in eBay Bucks. You can't buy much for $63. I'm considering buying a couple of slabbed Franklin halfs. Anyone have any other ideas? Any good foreign/ancient coin suggestions?
why don't you buy something similar to the coins that you bought to get the 63 ebay bucks and just use it like a coupon if the price is higher.......or get a morgan dollar and come up with a contest that I can win and post it on up!!!
I think you should by some "Unsearched" lots... You know, the ones where the seller says that all the coins are from between 1940 and 1950... I'm pretty sure those sellers are psychics since these are unsearched yet they already know that all the coins are between '40 and '50... They need to pick my lottery ticket numbers. But seriously, higher grade slabbed silver seems like a good bet (Franklins, Peace, Morgans).
how about supplies/books? i wouldnt buy a coin just because you can't find anything else to spend 63 bucks on, you might regret it later.
You can always get some semi-key date coins, they're always good to have. Some silver would be nice too.
Are the bucks going to expire? If not why not continue to acquire them until you can get something you WANT with them? I have to admit I don't know anything about the eBay bucks, how you get them, or how you can use them.
You get the ebay bucks based on your purchases. I can't remember what the figures are, but $63 in ebay bucks means quite a bit was spent on other items. Probably somehwere in the $1000 range. I do think they expire as well. In fact, I believe they can only be used at a specific time. Maybe OP can refresh our memories? To use them, when you make an ebay purchase, you have the option to apply your bucks to it.
>>Maybe OP can refresh our memories?<<< eBay Bucks are earned thru a quarter. An example is Jan 1 through March 31. The rate is normally 2%; but there are specials where the rate can be much higher. I've earned as much as 10% during specials. You need a paypal account to participate. eBay Bucks are not given for bullion, interestingly enough. However, some sellers will list a bullion coin under multiple categories such as the Bullion Category and World Coin Category; in which case eBay bucks ARE given on bullion coins. After the quarter is over they become available for 30 days. You can spend the bucks on anything you purchase off of eBay (except bullion if it's listed only in the bullion category). They expire after 30 days. Mine are gone within hours of becoming available!
I think slabbed Franklin's are nice...but don't just spend $63 because you have it to spend. Maybe there is a more expensive coin that you really want that has been a little out of your price range and you could put the $63 towards it to make it more affordable. That is what I would personally do.
>>It's 2% back on eligible items paid for with paypal so the Op spent more like $3000+. << No, I actually spent around $2200. But some of the items yielded more than 2%. One of the items was a 1914-s St Gaudens slabbed by PCGS at MS64. I paid $1849 and earned an additional 55.47 in ebay bucks. That was a 3% special.
Others have claimed that they see a bump in closing prices right after eBay Bucks become available -- the idea is that lots of people use their Bucks to buy things they wouldn't otherwise buy, or bid higher than they otherwise would. I haven't noticed it myself, but if true, this would be an argument against bidding during the first few days the Bucks become available.
