I was wondering if anyone knew a good information source (i.e. book, website...) regarding currency from the ten years Texas was its own Republic? I have seen some notes for sale on ebay and the prices vary greatly for the notes so I was wanting to research them further before deciding what to buy and at what price. Thanks for the help. Joe
Search AMAZON for books written by Grover Criswell. He has several books specializing in Southern States and Confederate Currency. Be carefull for conterfeits when shopping eBay, or stick with notes that have been authenticated (third party graded). Good luck Joe.
Thanks for the help! I don't know why I haven't looked in to collecting these before, being born and raised in Texas I would consider it a very proud piece of my history and heritage.
Instead of Ebay, try this place: http://www.crutchwilliams.com/ They specialize in notes from Texas and have an amazing selection. A bit pricy for some things, but at least you know what you are getting. Guy
The best book I have seen is called The Paper Republic. It can be purchased on Amazon for $60. Also, there are some details at http://www.navonanumis.blogspot.com
