Hello everyone, I was wondering how much is a 1745w France L'OR worth. It is a gold coin.It is graded MS-64 by NGC. It doesnt say the denomination, and am not exactely sure of the size .
Is this some kind of later date reproduction?
On the reverse , around the rim it says IMPER 1745 CHRS REGN VING
The obverse has a bust of some long haired dude facing left. The writing around the rim is hard to pic up

    TIA

    Claw,

What your describing is most probbaly a French Louis D'OR 1745W.
The "W" designates the mint mark which is this case is "Lillie"

The mintage of this coin was 296,000 and it contains .2405 oz. of gold.

I would estimate an NGC MS-64 grade at $1000-$1100

    Claw -

Ordinarily I would say that the price silvereagle quoted is dead on target. However - the coin currently being offered on ebay as an MS64 is a poor example for the grade assigned. The coin has a very poor strike and a knowledgeable collector of these would not likely offer more than $550 - $600 for this particular coin.

Just wanted to make sure you knew that.

Thanks Silver Eagle and Doug for the info. The books and mags i checked out did not go back that far.
And from the picture, it looked like a half ounce or full ounce coin. Not sure if I will make a bid , but that info really helps.

I know they kept you around for some reason. JJ

For what it's worth, this is what a quality strike should look like ;)
