and im sorry, but it is BURNED into the coin at least a mm deep, maybe more. hard to say without opening it. it may be from carbon, but it is NOT just a discoloration. it is a circle burned into the coin with a tiny hole burned into the center of that circle. i can clearly see it and feel it. please dont tell me what i am seeing and touching.

No. I didn't read the next post until after I'd posted but decided not to change the wording since its the message thats important.

The spot, regardless of shape, adds zero value (probably negative value) to the IKE. Posting that photo in this thread along with the statement: "i put a barter ad up to trade some of these pennies" implies that you traded a 70-S Small Date for the IKE.

I was simply responding to that post.

Perhaps the "IKE" photo belongs in a different thread? Or perhaps a thread showcasing the entire collection would be more appropriate?

maybe "eaten" into the coin is a better word than "burned". it did eat into it though. there is metal missing where the ring is and where the speck of whatever it was landed.

i did put it in a different thread and had this answered already. i hadnt thought about it until you brought it up. i was last talking about pennies.
