Can anyone tell me what coin is the woman from the following picture is from? That picture is the only information I have, it would also help to know who she is or where she is from. Thank you! :) 4f62a88126ae7.jpg

I'm glad you clarified that, but maybe she should have married a fish.

Fishwife also called a woman who is coarse and evil-tempered. I didn't want to slander the nice Aachen granny.

She has a nose that would make W.C. Fields proud.

Christian, she looks more familiar than just that coin. Was her picture also on some paper notgeld of the period as well? From memory, (fallible of course), when I saw the pic at first all I remembered was "Aachen", but I believe it was from paper money.

Nonsense, she clearly sells fish, not other items you might find on a market. The image on the coin is showing her left side, while the moon is shining on her path to the Eichhörnchenweg masonic lodge. As usual, she had her fish with her, she sold them to the gentlemen from the lodge who loved snacks during their meetings.

I know all this for a fact, as I have undeniable evidence which will be revealed to Mr. Robert W. Hoge, who I will contact right away using various aliases. I will show you all.

There sure is something fishy about that story. :D And Chris, I have not seen that woman on paper (emergency) notes from Aachen, but then I do not collect paper money. So there may very well be a similar design on a note.

Oh, and Aachen has some good looking ladies too, hehe. See the images below, taken from this page. But these pieces are not quite as characteristic as the, umm, fish woman.

By the way, that's a picture of my own coin. I have had it for a long time, but didn't know who is that's woman. I'm very happy to eventually know the story of the market woman of Aachen!
