I found a Monticello nickel printed on a penny blank. Due to the size of the nickel print on the much smaller penny blank, I cannot see what mint made the coin or what year it was minted. Is this a common error? How can I figure out when the coin was printed without a date? Does the coin have any value?
Jefferson nickels on cent planchets appear to list RETAIL for 250 to 350, if certified and AU-Unc grade. I can't find an undates example though to compare. Can you post pics? Here's a dated one for comparison: http://www.fredweinberg.com/inventory/item.php?ID=6679
Welcome to CT! I can't wait to see pics of this one. Without pics it's impossible to tell you what you have.
This is similar, but much better quality and all of the print is easily visible. It is not on the coin I have. Your speed amazes me!
i think to know what value your coin has it is better to take a picture of your own coin. No 2 coins are ever alike, so if you take a picture from someone elses coin it is possible that you get an inacurate value based on details of the coin and such things. So take a look at the link from McBlzr and upload a picture of your own coin to get the best idea about your coin
Your coin looks like it is the real thing . you can tell if it is a copper coin or a zinc coin by weighing it. copper cents were made up until part of 1982 and after that our cents are the junk zinc and copper plated coins. a copper cent weigh around 3 grams and a zinc one weigh around 2.5 grams. your coin looks more like copper because I don't see any blisters on it that is common on the zinc coins.
These range from about 175 to 250 in this condition though the date does help with value here are a few of mine. The others I have are on my laptop not available at the present time. Nice find
