    Just picked up this little beauty. How do you think it grades? Looks like an N-9 to me based on the doubling around the 8 and the 4. 43o.jpg 43r.jpg

    55 or 58 at the top end. Nice LC ;)

    Strong 53, not a 58 IMO.

    Too many nicks and not enough luster left for a high grade AU. AU-50 and a 45 would not surprise me.

    XF45 IMO. Very beautiful piece though :thumb:

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

    PCGS = AU 55 or 53
    NGC = AU 58
    EAC = XF 40 net.

    The coin has a great deal of detail, and I see virtually no high-point wear. However, how's the luster.... Looks practically non-existent in the photos, and that's a bit disconcerting. The color is also a bit too uniform and suggests recoloring/retoning.

    I'm thinking AU-50 and wonder about the color as well. Maybe just the image. I like it.

    Leadfoot, you forgot INS
    I think INS would give it a MS70RD

    Isn't that wear, on top-right part of the ear and a few places on the hair, around the neck area? How can it possibly be AU when there is no luster at all, at least on these photos?

    Looks to be a nice example of an XF-45. I think it is a N-9 R2.

  13. I grade it 53 by those pictures. Nice looking coin, either way.

    Looks like a doubled date as well.

    I would say 55. Very nice Large Cent!

    I bought off Heritage on Thursday pm, and have yet to see it, so can't comment on color. FWIW, it's "officially" graded by ANACS as XF-45. I thought it was AU-50.

    I'd have to say Au-53.... Very nice piece!

  19. You guys do realize Mr. Coin posted the grade?

    Nope - and I would still call it an AU coin. :) This is the first I saw of the thread - then went to find his post. Nice coin no matter the grade.

  21. I agree, Mark. That's why I guessed 53 a while back. Solid coin.
