What is this?

    I have no idea what this is? It is the first one I have seen? Is this a real mint error or some kind of PMD? How can I tell for sure? What would it be worth if it was real/ does this even happen and how rare is it?


    Sorry for the bad pictures and all of the questions but it is the only way I will learn.

    Are you talking about the color of the cent? It looks to have been in the ground for a while

    There is only slight wear on it. Wouldn't it show of damage and not just a color change? I would expect corrosion of the zinc core. The steps on the reverse are complete even.

    Looks like the copper was removed. I think I see traces in "E Pluribus Unum" and "America" on the reverse. PMD.

    It looks to be just a color change, or as was stated above, the copper removed. I have this 1986 cent I found a while back. Not as cool looking, but pretty "blacked out".
