I have to tell y'all I was glad to move back to Missouir, Land of the endless auctions it seems like. My wife and I went to one last night just for fun and we picked up some nice deals. They had a table full of silver platters, serving utensils, butterbowls and the like that sold for $20. And that was a full table. The last two lots the sold from wer coins and ball Cards.

    for $27 I won:
1865 2 cent piece, small chopmarks on the obverse
    2 each of 1920, 23, 24, 25, 26, 28, 29 and 30 Buffalo nickles. F I'd say
    6 silver War Nickles
57D, 59, 62, 71, 64D, 89D BU Nickles that I havnet had time to think on the grades
and 16 Lincolns foma 56P to a 81 all BU

also had a 1973 S cent where the top of the mint mark is inbetween the 9 and 7.

I wasnt sure if that was a normal thing or not lol

But that was my excitement for last night as soon as I get my laptop to accept my camera, I'll try to send in some pics also. There were some beat up and dark Wheats there too, no key dates that I saw that were going for 5+ each in lots of 12 ( 60 total) I wondered if I was missing something on them or not lol.

    thanks for letting me share

Five bucks for 12 common date wheat cents seems high to me, probably prudent to have passed on those.

Hmmm I read that as 5 cents each in lots of 12. That would make much more cents though it's still overpaying for common circ wheats.

Sappernurse where in MO are you? I have an ex-employee that wants to open a shop in Columbia and wants me to help him.

I am about 2 hours south of Columbia in a small town Lebanon. I am stationed at the hospital at Ft Leonard Wood. And that was 5 dollars for each cent times 12 in the lot.

Sappernurse, are you in the military? I am stationed at Whiteman AFB MO. There are a lot of better coin auctions to go to there. I usually find one or two a month to go to.

Yes I am Tdec, we just moved here a little over a week ago from Ft Bragg NC. In fact in 2004 my sister retired from the USAF while at Whiteman, she was a 1SG at one o fthe B2 squadrons.

As I get settled in we will be spreading our wings to other auctionsin the area. I will keep you in mind for my travels to your neck of the woods.

I could be wrong but you paid $5 for each cent.....if that is right you overpaid.....most wheat cents go for $0.05 each.

The most I paid was a quarter a coin, except for the 2 cent piece. There was another lot of generic wheats that had gone for $5 a coin. I didnt even want to pay $5 for all of the wheats they had lol

I wasnt a party to that bidding, just a watcher

Went back to that same auction house this past Friday. They had boxes and boxes and boxes of coins 2 or 3 or 5 in envelopes and would only open one envelope at a time. Talk about having to make snap judgements on wether or not you wanted something. I got what I wanted plus a little. 12 Walking Halves 1940 and earlier all for 3-3.50 17 Barber halves all G or F for 90 and a 1921 Peace for 50

That Peace Dollar was all I really wanted from this auction. Got 3 3ring binders of about 6-8 sheets of BU cents in them for 6 too. It was cheaper than buying a good folder and coin sheetsand got the cents as a kicker.
