Hey, if you want the best reassurance, don't be afraid to consult with a dealer that can actually pick up the coin and see it with his own two eyes. Even though the details of a 69-s DDO is unmistakable, I would at least know for sure. Even one in the condition you have will be worth skyward of $25k++.

Please use one of the grading services to determine the grade and authenticity of your coin. They will only charge you around $35 and you'll have something you can be proud of.

    Good luck and happy collecting!

i have a suggestion my friend.....since you are admittedly "new to this" and you are coming to this forum of people who are definitely not "new to this" and asking their opinion......maybe you should respect their opinion as the truth and not keep trying to claim you have something that you don't.....just my advice my friend.

KooKoox10 offered up some great advice by suggesting to have a dealer at a coin shop or coin show look at it. That way the coin could be viewed in hand, in person, by someone who deals with coins everyday. You could even take it to more than one dealer if you wish. Then compare those findings with what we have advised here, then you will know.

It does appear to have a finned rim on the left side, but that doesn't really add any value either. So far none of the pictures have been close enough or clear enough to tell if there is anything else going on. You say you are just beginning and don't know anything about coins. I would recommend checking with you local library for a copy of A Guidebook of United States Coins by R S Yeoman. Then READ the book. Pay no attention to the prices listed in the book, it is the written text that you need at this point. Looking at prices without understanding what they refer to will only confuse and mislead you right now.

I have a question. Does your grandmother know you are getting into her money?
