Looks like a 1969 S cent you have there. Looks like you can spend it without losing money.

Is this thing worth a pretty penny litterally?

I would say so. I don't see Anything unique on it. But in other words, you have a 43 year old penny!

The 1969 doubled die really rare one is not this one. Sorry. The rare one has a Liberty that is doubled like this: (as well as other doubling)

I guess I just don't see any doubling on this cent. It doesn't matter that it's 43 years old or that you found it in your grandmas basement, it is what it is, a 1969-S cent that's worth just that, a cent. Sorry. Not trying to put you down or anything, but 43 years is not very old. Age is not "thee" determining factor of true value anyway. Condition and rarity are. Do you have any other coins?

The "grandma" scenario pops up on eBay quite often; you might be able to sell it there for a quarter... but you have to "juice up" the story a little. In reality, your coin had more buying power in 1969 than it does today. Back then it could purchase what would cost six cents today.

Isn't this the same person who thought other extremelyCOMMON coins were worth something. Like a 1972 Jefferson and a Washington from the 80s?

That might be a tad overvalued. Like by 49.99

1969 is not really old for a coin. I find 60s pennies in change all the time. If the penny is a Wheatie, then you're talking a little older and a little harder to find.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking questions. Please keep asking. I would highly recommend educating yourself on coins this way you know what to look for, to take into consideration and to help you keep from getting robbed (either literally or when you decide to purchase/sell coins).

Also use google, if you arent a savy person with the internet ask us,
So take your 1969-s Lincoln cent.

I would try goggling that, try Lincoln cent, Lincoln cent errors/values/conditions etc.. so it can help point you in the right direction. Knowledge is power!
