This is an interesting one. Please excuse the lack of color fidelity again, but I think I got some good shots of what I'm talkin' 'bout, willis. On the obverse, the date and mintmark don't look right. They've been stamped so hard the coin surface to the right of the "0" and "D" are dimpled. Could this be a repunched date/mintmark? You will find a ton of those starting when we switched to copper coated zinc back in 1982. I'm not sure if it's die fatigue, impropper plating or what, but they're not worth anything over face value.
No. Dates have not been hand-punched into working dies since 1908 and mintmarks have not been hand-punched into working dies since 1990.
