I have a collection of World deuces. I have been working on it on and off the last few years. I really need to get some scans ready to share.
I just received my third note. Occupation note that I only bought because it looks good next to my Meiji 50 Sen & 10 Sen coins. Not CU, maybe VF but I imagine there are many more stunning notes out there just waiting for me to discover them. Other two notes are a Canadian $10, & a Germany 100 mark note. I love them all, but am by no means a serious world currency collector.
When I see something I like i pick it up, its not my main area of the hobby, I much prefer foreign banknotes over us banknotes, some are so colorful, like a tiny work of art
Here are a few of the deuces. I know the notgeld isn't technically a deuce but I just loved the blue!
There are many of us that collect world currency. But the majority of collectors in the US collect US currency. Biggest problem I have is no dealers around here that sell world currency. So most of my buying is done online
I have some money my father brought back from Afghanistan. He had it laminated so it could survive the trip. He has lot more of it. And sorry for the pics, they are the best I could do without using a scanner. Click this text to see the pics, I am having issues trying to get them to load properly, so I just put them into an album.
So Papermoney54, you started this thread and haven't posted in it since... what do you collect, and what do you define as "serious" collecting of foreign notes? Dave
i basically collect any notes generally 1980's - modern day, but i prefer the more modern ones. i also have a small us coin collection, and some us paper money. as for serious - just buying something cuz you need it for your collection not because you yhink ity looks cool
