I've been trying to get a roll of dollars at my local bank for a while now but everytime I go in, they don't have them. I tried another branch of my bank and the clerk looked at me like I'm an idiot and told me she didn't know of any bank that carried these. I see you can buy these from the mint for way more than face value, but I have no real interest in that (I wanted to start giving my kids their allowance in dollars). Is there a somewhere I can go to get these? Should I just be persisitant at my local branch? I feel kind of like a pest going in there repeatedly and asking. Thanks.
You can try at the grocercy stores, Walmart, Kmart etc. Or just go to another bank. Think I would call around first though.
I've found that all of the 7-11's in my area seem to have them quite often.I just look into the till when making a cash purchase and they're easy to spot.At one time,I hade 10 rolls but ended up spending them.
kennedy's are easier to find at banks and you can find silver kennedy's and other halves as well. The kids will love them the same.
ALL post office stamp machines give change in metal dollars - sometimes SBAs, sometimes Sacs, sometimes a mixture.
the next time you go to your bank ask if you can order several rolls, i did this the other day for Eisenhower dollars, they called the vauld and still had them in stock. they may be able to do the same at your bank for sac's if they still have some in stock.
Except mine. They limit the selection and require exact change. You can put in more but the machine will not return change.
