This IHC arrived yesterday, from Angel Dees (Andy Skrabalak). I know he has a lot of fans here. Great guy, super eye. I wish his website were better. Lance.
Here's a tough one... (And sorry about the photos... Just snapped a few quickies with the iPhone 4S) ... Original, crusty example of an extremely difficult variety. There's a nice spread between PCGS 30 and 40, so I didn't mind buying strong on this one. And considering the population of this bad boy, I figured, once I got around to getting one for my set, I'd have to shell-out a few extra. Plenty of people are familiar with the 18.11 (Punct. Date/1811/10 Overdate) variety, but I've noticed this one isn't quite as popular. Why? Who knows! Because it's not as dramatic? Well, you could say that. Because it's not an Overdate like the 1811/10? I suppose. But, in reality, this variety, compared to the 18.11, is truly a rarity. For those of you who aren't familar with this variety, it is caused by a raised chip in the coin's die. The die chip convenienty occured between the '1' and '7' in the coin's date, creating what mimics the appearance of a decimal. Neat, huh? -Brian PS- Made a couple more Capped Bust Half NEWPs this month, so more photos to come!
The toughies; 92 O, 92 S, 96 S and 97 S. I'm afraid that those will cost me dearly if I want to stick to Fine coins. But therein lies the fun, right!?
Here's the '92-S, RaceBannon. I got it as a partial trade for a 1795 cent. It's my only Barber half and I think I gave the guy PCGS price guide credit for it. Did I pay too much? Lance.
Picked this guy up Thursday for ten bucks. Looked cool and its my 1st East India Company coin. I know their alot of fakes so what do you guys think? It looks like new other than the green build up. Any thoughts on removing the green?
Finally got around to setting up my copy light stand equipped w/ Nikon 1 J1! So, here are my test photos... Of a coin that just so happens to be a NEWP! I call it a 35, but, for some reason, I think PCGS'd say 40. Although it's a more common variety, it's definitely an interesting one!... The die break on the reverse above the eagle's right wing is very dramatic! -Brian
